Recycling Collection Schedule & Garbage Routes (by Street)

 

Materials should be placed at the curbside no sooner that 6:00 PM on the day prior to scheduled collection and no later than 6:00 AM. On the day of scheduled collection. Empty containers or unaccepted materials must be removed from the curb no later than 8:00 PM on the day of scheduled collection.

Commingled containers

Collection schedule (example: plastic milk, soda bottles, glass containers and aluminum/tin cans)

Recyclables

  • Must be in sturdy metal or plastic trash containers only (33 gal. Or smaller)

  • Must be cleaned and rinsed

  • Must crush plastic milk and soda bottles

  • No plastic or paper bags

  • No plate glass, oil containers, ceramics or styrofoam

Paper, Newspapers, Tires, and White Metal Appliances

Residents are encouraged to dispose of their recyclable paper and newspapers at the DPW Yard on Saturdays between 8:00 AM and 12:00 PM.

Residents must register for the collection of tires and white metal appliances with the DPW, 188 Union Ave, at least two (2) days prior to the following scheduled tire and appliance collection dates, by calling Kerri at 973-838-0778 (x306). Please leave a detailed message with your name, phone number, address & item for pick-up. 

Tires

The borough will accept passenger vehicle tires only. (Truck tires will NOT be accepted) Residents must pay a $5.00 disposal fee per passenger vehicle tire when registering.

White Metal Appliances

No fee is charged for appliances.

Brush and Yard Waste

Tree limbs and twigs must be tied in four (4) foot lengths and placed curbside. No tree trunks or stumps will be accepted.

Bring to DPW between on Saturday’s between 8:00 am and 12:00 noon only

Batteries

All types of lead acid batteries may be dropped off at the recycling center (Example: Car, Truck, Boat, Motorcycle)

Grass Clippings are collected

Residents are advised to compost grass clippings or to mulch finely cut grass into their lawns. Do not leave clumps of grass clippings on your lawn or otherwise render your property unsightly in violation of the local property maintenance code.

There will be no garbage drop off at the DPW site. Garbage disposal is at curbside pickup only

Oil is no longer accepted at the DPW yard
