EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT

The mission of the Emergency Management Office is to prepare for and protect residents from disasters.

Mandated by the Federal government through Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and by the State of New Jersey Office of Emergency Management, the Bloomingdale Office of Emergency Management (OEM) exists to protect the lives and property of the citizens of Bloomingdale in the face of natural or man-made disasters.

Emergency Management is the discipline of applying science, technology, planning, and management to deal with extreme events that can injure or kill large numbers of people, do extensive damage to property, and disrupt community life for long periods. Executing the responsibilities and duties of this agency enables the Borough of Bloomingdale and its residents to be eligible for disaster assistance and reimbursement.

Our mission is accomplished by:

  1. Identifying and mitigating potential threats.

  2. Preparing plans to deal with various disasters.

  3. Coordinating and responding to disasters.

  4. Coordinating recovery efforts following a disaster.

OEM is responsible for directing all disaster responses within the Borough of Bloomingdale.
