In the interest of “Saving Tax Dollars” for the Bloomingdale Tax Payers, The Borough is going “Green” to “$ Save you Green $”.
The pilot program was so successful that the Borough of Bloomingdale will continue the hours until December 1, 2008. The Borough of Bloomingdale will continue the practical, real life, analysis of the operational costs of Borough Hall (Lights, Air Conditioning, Heat, etc). The final analysis will determine the percentage of savings in operational costs by shutting down systems three full days a week. The Council will evaluate the program in the future.
With heating fuel prices at already all time highs, and a cold fall and winter predicted, the study is a pro-active attempt to maintain the minimum introduced 2008 Budget, without increasing taxes again in 2009 because of rising fuel costs.
The Mayor and Council approved “GreenHours” starting on June 16, 2008, for all Borough offices except the Police Department, the Department of Public Work, and the Senior Center Building.
Borough Offices will be open from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday through Thursday and will be Closed on Fridays until December 1, 2008. Please be reminded that a “Lock Box” is available for any after hour payments.
